The ‘liveability’ of a city refers to how pleasant it is to live there. This is measured by several groups, most prominently the Economist Intelligent Unit, which produces an annual 'Global Liveability Index' that considers 30+ indicators across five categories: stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education, and infrastructure. In 2025, its top 10 most liveable cities were Copenhagen, Vienna, Zurich, Melbourne, Geneva, Sydney, Osaka, Auckland, Adelaide, and Vancouver.

Since 2018, Bulgaria has taught its communist history as one chapter of its compulsory 10th grade ‘History and Civilisations’ subject. This chapter is not consistently part of major school examinations.

The US Democratic Party's priorities changed between 2012 and 2024. Comparing the respective Democratic Party platforms, terms that appeared more in 2012 include jobs, middle class, economy, responsibility, and small business. Terms that appeared more in 2024 include white/black/latino, climate, guns, LGBT, hate, democracy, and reproductive.

Argentina’s 1976-1983 military junta disappeared thousands of young people suspected of being political dissidents. In 1977, the Madres de (‘Mothers of’) Plaza de Mayo formed to demand the return of their disappeared children and protest the junta.

In 1986, the Madres split into two groups: the Línea Fundadora ('Founding Line') and the Asociación ('Association'). The Línea Fundadora focused on identifying the disappeared (recovering remains and getting compensation) and worked with the new democratically-elected government. The more radical Asociación focused on political activism (promoting social justice causes that the disappeared stood for) and opposed working with the government.
